The final chapter of Inexternal Dread is out.

When we released Inexternal Dread in March, the journey wasn't meant to end with those eight tracks.

From atmospheric passages to melodic black metal and death metal brutality, these two EPs were conceived as extensions of the same world, giving Inexternal Dread another six tracks and a final chapter. 

The connection is visual too. Niklas Sundin created the two companion artworks: gold for Tension, silver for Paroxysm. 

Our next release following the full-length is this EP! It is not a direct continuation of the album but rather something loosely connected to it! The third and final installment of this story is arriving in October to complete the saga! 

With Inexternal Dread, Rivers Ablaze embrace a form of progressiveness rooted in structure, atmosphere and restraint.

Songs unfold through non-canonical forms, layered influences and carefully measured tension, allowing the music to breathe and evolve over time.

Black metal and death metal remain the backbone of the band’s sound, but are constantly reshaped by crushing doom-laden passages and a vocal approach that occasionally slips into something unexpected — almost grunge in spirit — yet filtered through a dark, noir sensibility.
